Meta.Morf 2022 - Ecophilia

2022 Apr 1 - 9:00am - 2022 Jul 31 - 5:00pm

A version of 'Plastivore' will be exibited at the Trondheim Science Museum in Trondheim, Norway. Here are the details:

Ecophilia can be defined as an innate desire to connect with nature. But what does it mean when nature is no longer pristine? How does ecophilia manifest itself in the age of the Anthropocene? When borders between nature, human, and technology have become blurred, even obsolete? We cannot ignore the radical changes we have caused to planet Earth. The Technosphere is here to stay. What does it mean to be a true ecophile today? Fighting climate change? Giving legal rights to trees? Advocate the devolution of the human species – for the better of the planet? Or should a true ecophile love and care for a nature transformed with all its strange new habitants? What about saving plastic Christmas trees, protecting artificial landscapes, and putting genetically modified organisms in the list of protected species? Do we even need to be in nature to be ecophiles? And what happens when our obsession with nature turns into a sexual fetish? Can one be too much of an ecophile? When is the ecophile becoming the ecopath? Meta.Morf 2022 – The seventh Trondheim international biennale for art and technology – manifests a critical take on mankind’s relationship to nature. The biennale will, through conferences, exhibitions, and performances, explore the wonderful and strange new forms of ecophilia.
