early development

After I put in the first garden plot, it wasn't long before others joined me to clean up garbage and construct more gardens, usually consisting of simple stone or rubble corrals to which dead leaves were added to amend the meagre soil. Water for irrigation  had to be hauled in buckets  from the public washrooms in the nearby park.
